Too much!

I'm told that the health benefits of drinking three litres of water a day are incredible. It helps you lose weight and just generally flushes you out and makes you feel fresh as newly laid concrete. I'm trying it from today.

Of course too much water is bad for you. If you drink too much water you can quite literally drown apparently.

Too much of anything if bad for you. The clue is in the use of the words "too much" you idiot.

I'd be interested (not to mention surprised) if you can find any scientific evidence to back this up.

There was a report many years ago that recommended an intake of 2 litres of water per day, but it didn't differentiate between water contained in your food, water contained in tea / coffee / beer / whisky, or water drunk from a glass of water.

Drinking 3 litres of water will help you lose weight primarily cos you'll be running to / from the bog every 12 minutes or so.

In that case, the same health benefits could equally be attributed to a dodgy kebab.
