Take it to the Maxi

Maxi is on the radio between 5:30 and 7:00 am weekdays, RTE Radio 1.

On one or two occasions I've been badly exposed to her early morning MOR banter and music while waiting on the news. Maxi knows best. She's great craic altogether and sure who wants anything heavy at that time o the mornin', she'll tell you.

Her website pompously posits:
"I'm very much aware of the power of music over the body, so I'm careful with the music choice. Nice and easy for the first hour. A little faster after that!"

Music. This is where she truly comes into her own. It's so unerringly awful that you have to think she has some kind of gift. Here's a sample of the 'nice and easy' songs she played earlier today:
Meat Loaf "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)"
Whitney Houston "Greatest Love Of All"
UB40 "Red Red Wine"
Her website goes on:
"So many listeners have their routine in the morning. They expect to hear items such as the sports updates and news and traffic reports at certain times. I'm pleased to bring those regular items to people at the times they expect them."

She's saying here that, like every other single fucking programme on RTE Radio, she's willing to allow sport, news and traffic to her intersperse her dire music and craic. She's quite simply too good to be true this one.

Then, around six thirty, Maxi starts rockin' it out a bit. She's decided it's time for us to wake up now. Smile, it might never happen!!!
Falco "Rock Me Amadeus"
Britney Spears "Lucky"
Huey Lewis "Stuck With You"
But, of all the bothersome things about this thoroughly rankling woman, the worst, by a distance, is her absolute insistence in referring to herself, constantly, in the third person.

"Welcome to Mornin' Time with Maxi"
"And it's Bye from Maxi until Monday - have a FAB weekend"
"bhhhff ... sorry Maxi is eating some toast"

Mind you. If I played music that shit on air I probably pretend I wasn't me either.

Hey, don't diss Falco - the boy was iconic enough to get a street named after him:

And don't diss Maxi. As part of the trio Sheba, she proudly represented Oireland in the 1981 eurovision song contest.

Only came 5th though. Beaten soundly by Bucks Fizz and their fiendish skirt ripping routine.

Yes, you're right, it's very easy to criticise people for expressing themselves whilst I sit here on my fat arse. Very easy indeed.

(why would 'diss' have two esses?)
