What's the Score?

It was with great pleasure last night that I watched the great Messi, Iniesta and Co. out class, out play, out think a gloriously lacklustre Man Ure. They were on a different level entirely. One small thing annoyed me though. I took this picture off the telly. From the ITV coverage. Can you see what's missing from the top left of the screen?
Yes, the score. Where is it? Are we to assume that this is a money saving measure that ITV decided to essay during the most important sporting event of the year?

In the olden times they didn't used to put the score up on the screen. And people used to walk into the room and say "What's the score?". Then, about ten years ago, they started putting it up there in the top left corner. And people would walk into the room and say "Is that the score?". And you'd say "Yes it is, numbnuts, that's why it says it on the screen".

Can we have it back again please?

It worked fine on Irish telly. If you'd stop being English for a night you'd have been OK.

That said, Irish telly made the game seem dull for long stretches. Did that also happen on ITV?

The Arsenal vs. Sheffield Wednesday game from the olden days being shown on Men & Motors proved more attractive than Chumps League Final for a while.

Liam Brady used to have hair! Who'd have ever thought that, eh?

Ironically, the M&M re-mastered Big Match coverage was ruined by some modern technology affectations - specifically, the permanent display of the score in the top left of the screen.

D'oh!

I would watch Irish telly but, as I've told you often enuf in real life, I don't get any Irish tv signal here in Ireland.

The problem of television owners unable to watch television has been a huge problem for many years. But it's a problem that could soon be a thing of the past, for British scientists have come up with THIS...

It may look like a hotch potch of bits of metal connected to a long cable, but scientists are calling it an "aerial" and believe that it could be used in the future to pick up television signals simply by fixing the metally bit to your roof, and plugging the cable into the back of your television.

there is a reason that the game was made to appear dull by Irish tv. It was a very dull game. Very very dull. But probably not if you where a Man U or Barca fan. Even a fake one.
